Moving fashion forward

Moving fashion forward

Hi! I’m Taryn.
I’m a filmmaker, author, and speaker on a mission to help redefine the way we think about ourselves.

Let me just say it: I love fashion. I love colour, creativity, and the thrill of expressing who I am without saying a word.

I like to inject a little bit of flair with what I wear. It’s not for everyone, but I’d rather shine, sparkle and be comfortable, in my own way. Case in point: check out this snap from when I was invited to the White House State Dinner by President Joe Biden!

But you know what can suck the fun out of fashion? Rules. Expectations. Pressure.

Fashion should be fun — not something that makes us feel like we’re not good enough. But how many times have you walked out of a shopping centre feeling like absolute crap? Like nothing fit, nothing suited you, and somehow, it was your fault? Well, I’m here to set the record straight: it’s not on you!

For years, I’ve been hearing that people are sick of the fashion industry pushing unrealistic and down-right dangerous beauty standards on us. Fashion brands and influencers love telling us what to buy, what to wear, what NOT to wear, and how to make it all look effortless. There’s an endless list of fads and trends we’re told to keep up with if we want to “look good”.

Some brands have led the way towards inclusivity and are showing that change is possible. But many are still floundering when it comes to genuinely caring for their customers.

The issue is, a lot of fashion brands want to be more inclusive — they’re hearing the call for body positivity and representation — but they’re not sure how to actually walk the talk.

That’s why Dr Zali Yager and I teamed up to create the Feel Good Fashion program. Together, we work with brands to help them understand how they can genuinely support body image, inclusion, and mental wellbeing. From marketing to store design and the way they show up online, we’re there to guide the process and make sure it’s grounded in research and real impact.

A shining example of a brand doing this beautifully is Mama Movement. They’re a colourful Aussie activewear label that’s all about joy, movement and celebrating bodies of all shapes and sizes. Through the Feel Good Fashion program, they’ve taken their commitment to inclusivity the extra mile — and it’s been such a thrill to watch them grow and thrive while spreading their positive vibes.

Feel Good Fashion isn’t just good for customers — it’s good for business. When brands create space for people to feel seen, valued, and celebrated, everyone wins. Feel Good Fashion is the key to making that possible. One brand, one shop, one happy customer at a time.

So, throw on your sparkly suit — or whatever makes you feel like you’re shining — and let’s make fashion feel damn good!
